Scripps Institution of Oceanography drew the world’s preeminent experts in the measurement of greenhouse gases as it hosted the 18th WMO/IAEA Meeting on Carbon Dioxide, Other Greenhouse Gases, and Related Measurement Techniques (GGMT-2015) from September 13-17, 2015. It was the 40th anniversary of the first GGMT meeting (then called “CO₂ Experts Meeting”) co-convened by Keeling Curve namesake Charles David Keeling. That first gathering was also held at Scripps in 1974. This year’s GGMT event follows a series of regular meetings held every two years, with the previous GGMT-2013 meeting held in Beijing, China.
Topics discussed by researchers at GGMT ranged from methods for making greenhouse gas measurements in urban settings to informing climate policy through observations and modeling.
